Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Web Illustrations, operating as Instant Job Estimator (“we”, “us”) collects when you use this website to get an instant estimate, book an appointment and pay a deposit, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It covers this website only. The website is intended for visitors in the United States.

• Contact details you enter: your name, email address, phone number and, if you give one, the address where the service will take place.
• Your estimate and booking: the service and options you choose (such as size, hours, timing and extras), the estimated price, and the appointment date and time you select.
• Payment information: deposits and invoices are paid through Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, its amount and a reference for it. Stripe collects the details it needs (such as your card, email and billing information) and some device information for fraud prevention, under its own privacy policy.
• Messages: if you email or call us, we keep what you send us and the contact details you use.
• Staff accounts: for people who work with us, an email address and a password used to sign in (the password is stored only in hashed form).
• Basic technical information that our hosting and database providers record when you use the website, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request and the time.

We collect this information from you directly, from Stripe (whether a payment succeeded) and automatically from your browser.

• To calculate your estimate and reserve the appointment you request.
• To process your deposit, send invoices and receipts, and confirm your booking.
• To contact you about your booking, the work and any invoice, and to answer your questions.
• To notify our team when a new booking or invoice is paid.
• To keep records of estimates, bookings and payments for accounting, tax and legal purposes.
• To keep the website secure and to prevent fraud and abuse.
• To comply with the law and to enforce our Terms of Service.

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with anyone for advertising. We don’t use your phone number or email address for marketing.

We use a small number of service providers to run this website. They handle your information on our behalf, only to provide their service to us, except where noted:

• Stripe (privacy policy) processes deposit and invoice payments and sends receipts. It receives your payment details, name, email address, the amount and a booking reference. Stripe also uses some information for its own fraud-prevention and legal purposes.
• Supabase (privacy policy) hosts our database, which holds your estimates, bookings, contact details and staff accounts. It stores this information in the United States.
• Netlify (privacy policy) hosts the website and delivers its pages. It receives technical information such as your IP address, browser and the pages you request.
• Resend (privacy policy) sends the internal notification emails our team receives when a booking or invoice is paid. Those emails include the customer’s name and the amount paid.

Text messages. We don’t currently send text messages. If we start, we’ll tell you here first, ask for your consent where the law requires it, and send them through Twilio (privacy policy).

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to respond to legal process, to protect our rights, safety or property or those of others, to prevent fraud, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business.

We use only what the site needs to work: a sign-in session for staff accounts, and a record of the privacy choice you make when you first visit, saved in your browser’s local storage so we don’t ask again on that device. If you choose “Accept All” or turn on “Preferences”, we also remember your light or dark theme; if you choose “Essential only”, we don’t. You can change your choice at any time with “Privacy Settings” in the footer of any page.

We don’t use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and no third party collects information about your activity on other websites through this site. Stripe’s checkout page is run by Stripe and has its own cookies and privacy policy.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Because we don’t track you across websites, we don’t change how the site works in response to these signals.

Our providers store and process your information in the United States and may process it in other countries. This website is intended for visitors in the United States.

We keep booking, invoice and payment records for as long as we need them for the purposes above and to meet tax, accounting and legal requirements, which is generally up to seven years. Estimates that don’t lead to a booking, and messages you send us, are kept only as long as they are useful for handling your request or required by law. We delete or anonymize information we no longer need.

We use reasonable safeguards, such as encrypted (HTTPS) connections and access controls that limit who can see your information. No website or storage system is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we’ll notify you as the law requires.

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to records we are required to keep, such as tax and accounting records. To make a request, email or call us using the details below. We may ask you to confirm your identity, for example by checking details you gave when you booked, before we act.

California residents. Under California privacy law (including the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended), to the extent it applies to us, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to get a copy of it; to correct it; to delete it; to opt out of its sale or sharing (we don’t sell or share personal information); to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we use staff sign-in details only to provide access to the website); and to be treated the same whether or not you use these rights. You may use an authorized agent, and we may ask for proof that they act for you. We aim to respond within 45 days and will tell you if we need more time.

We collect these categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email address, phone number, service address and IP address); commercial information (the services you asked about or booked, and payment status and references); internet or network activity (the technical information described above); and, for staff only, account login details. We collect them from you, from Stripe and automatically from your browser, for the purposes listed above, and we disclose them to the service providers listed above for those business purposes. We do not sell or share them. We also don’t disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes (California Civil Code section 1798.83).

This website is intended for adults (18 and over). We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

If we change this policy, we’ll post the updated version here and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we’ll say so at the top of this page.
